Responsible sourcing

Our beans are always traceable to the growers and come from micro-lots and co-operatives that safeguard the interests of the farmer and workforce. Many of our beans are also Rainforest Alliance Certified and Organic Certified. These certifications make sure that in addition to trading fairly with local farmers, we also take the planet into consideration.

Packaging

All of our packaging is either compostable or recyclable excluding almost all landfill materials. We are also continuously working to reduce our use of cardboard and paper in our packaging and promotional material. Where we use cardboard and paper we make sure that at least 40% of the content is from recycled materials.

Carbon

We deliver at least 70% of our B2C orders by bicycle with zero emissions. For the remaining, we offer electric vehicle delivery where possible and subsidise 40% of the cost. Check out our annual Carbon impact report for more information about our carbon goals.

Waste

We operate several schemes to reduce waste throughout our business.

Food waste – we almost completely illuminated food waste at our cafes by offering any left over food at a very reduced rate via Too Good To Go app.

Coffee grounds – We completely illuminated any coffee grounds waste by donating the grounds to local gardeners and allotments.

Packaging – We collect and recycle all the coffee packaging from our customers in South-east London. For the majority of our wholesale customers, we operate circular deliveries in reusable tubs, thus eliminating single use packaging completely.

Coffee cups

We are working towards the goal of ultimately eliminating paper cups altogether. With the help of a grant from the mayor of London shared prosperity fund we implemented a returnable cup scheme in our cafe as well as offer financial incentive for customers to bring their own cups from home.
