Mont58 Coffee is an independent, ethical coffee roastery founded by husband-and-wife team Shai and Maya in South-East London. What began as a passion project roasting beans in a garden shed quickly evolved into a thriving business focused on quality, sustainability, and community. In 2024, we became a certified B Corporation, highlighting our commitment to responsible business practices. Now operating from a larger roastery in Ashford, Kent, and with two further locations in South-east London we supply individuals, cafes, and businesses across the UK, combining small-batch quality with big-hearted values. Our mission: to make great coffee that’s better for people and the planet.
Mont58 Coffee started in 2018 when we decided to turn Shai’s love of coffee into a business. Shai developed a passion for coffee through childhood memories of drinking cardamom-spiced coffee with his grandfather and loved it ever since. He started roasting at our home on a tiny 250g machine, giving the coffee to friends and neighbours. A year later we both took the leap, quit our full time jobs and started Mont58 from our garden shed. The support from our local community has been amazing, especially through lockdown when we got to meet so many of our customers when we delivered coffee to their homes and then when we opened our back garden gate and served ‘secret coffees’ to people in Blythe hill park. Although our lovely shed is no longer used for roasting, it remains central to our identity – a small business with a big heart and a deep love for great coffee.
