SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability is a crucial part of our ethos. We are on track to be certified as B- Corp in 2024. We do our best to reduce our environmental impact so we can provide our customers with a sustainable product that helps them reach their sustainability goals too. It is an ongoing journey for us and we are continuously working towards this goal.

Our coffee:

Our beans are always traceable to the growers and some of them are also Rainforest Alliance Certified and Organic Certified. These certifications make sure that in addition to trading fairly with local farmers, we also take the planet into consideration. 

Packaging and waste:

All of our packaging is either compostable or recyclable excluding almost all landfill materials. We are also working to reduce our use of cardboard and paper in our packaging and promotional material. Where we use cardboard and paper we make sure that at least 40% of the content is from recycled materials.

This year we started implementing circular deliveries to our wholesale customers. We deliver our coffee beans in reusable tubs, which we collect and refill. Thus eliminating single use packaging completely.

Carbon:

We deliver at least 70% of our B2C orders by bicycle with zero emissions. For the remaining, we offer electric vehicle delivery where possible and subsidise 40% of the cost. All of our B2B deliveries within the M25 are done using electric delivery by PackFleet.

We have produced our first Carbon impact report using Climate Essentials this year, and are in the process of offsetting all emissions produced in the life-cycle of our coffee, making our coffee on the path to being 100% carbon neutral. This goal will be achieved by the end of 2023.

We are working towards minimising emissions in our energy consumption by using Green tariffs where possible.

Zero waste:

If you live near our roasteries in Catford or Ashford you are more than welcome to come along and get your coffee packaging free. Bring along a container in which you’d like to store your beans, we’ll fill it up, ground it if needed and you simply pay by the gram. Each time you fill up you’ll get a free cup of coffee for your efforts.

Coffee cups:

Drink your coffee on the go and help reducing waste! We are proud to be selling rCups reusable cups on our website. rCUP doesn’t leak, ever. Every purchase of an rCUP is funding a sustainable solution to global waste. The outer thermal insulation layer of rCUP is made from used paper coffee cups. Every one of us throws away 350 paper coffee cups each year on average. By switching to rCUP you save these from landfill and contribute directly to the recycling of the used coffee cups that slip through the net. Plus it’s been designed for least 10 years use and is 100% recyclable in the UK’s kurbside recycling system.
